Are you tired of dealing with those pesky mealybugs on your houseplants? Well, you're not alone! These little critters seem to have a knack for making their way into our homes and taking up residence on our beloved plants. But fear not Wild Ones, there is hope!
SO WHAT EXACTLY ARE MEALYBUGS?
They are tiny, white, cottony-looking insects that can be found on the stems and leaves of your plants. They feed on the sap of a weak plant and can cause yellowing, wilting, and even death if left untreated.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY HOUSEPLANTS HAVE MEALYBUGS?
Look for a sticky residue called honeydew. Often, it can attract other critters like ants and sooty mould. Ants in your plants? It could be because of Mealybugs!
HOW TO GET RID OF MEALYBUGS
First, use our Leaf Cleaning Gloves to remove the visible pests and residue. Make sure you get into all the nooks and crevices. From there, place your plant away from other plants to stop the spread.
Many people opt to use a Neem Oil based spray to tackle Mealybugs. Neem Oil is a multipurpose product that is great for organic gardening! Be sure to cover the top and bottom of the leaves, as well as any cracks and crevices where the bugs may hide.
DON’T FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP OF ALL: PREVENTION!
Mealybugs can’t attack healthy plants. So make sure you are regularly using We the Wild products to keep them fighting fit. Regularly inspect your plants to catch any potential infestations early. Shine your leaves every 2 weeks with Protect Spray, and combine with our Leaf Cleaning Gloves for ultimate leaf care.
Mealybugs may be small, but they pack a big punch when it comes to damaging your plants. But with a little bit of knowledge and some elbow grease, you can keep these pests at bay and keep your plants looking healthy and happy.
